Partying for Jesus!

Ahh, it's so wonderful to be able to talk in the written form. I have virtually no voice right now...and the sounds that I do make could be compared to that of a dying goat.

This is the perfect alternative to me talking to bunches of you about what I've been up to lately. I went to Youth Quake this weekend.

Wow.

Let me just sum this event up for you: So after an 8 hour bus ride, we (a group of 80-ish amazing people) arrived at Briercrest in Caronport, SK. From there on the weekend was filled with amazing sessions from Chris Tompkins, concerts from KJ-52, High Valley, and the City Harmonic (just to name a few), connecting with the amazing people who let us sleep in their dorm rooms for the weekend, and getting challenged to live your life for God 24/7. A few other things you should know about the weekend:

1) Our three vehicle train made the loudest entrance YQ has probably ever had...

2) There might have been an amp strapped to the roof of our bus.

3) This wonderful shirt made an appearance (Steve knows how to party)

And that's only a summary of the fun we had!

Bunch of  beauts, right here.

And to top off this fantastic weekend, I added a second tattoo to my small collection:

I love it. So much. Ahh.

Okay well I'm going to go sleep some more now. So goodnight-day.

Peace, Love, and Volleyball

You know how I'm not a big sports fan? Well just to throw you off, here's some more sports themed cupcakes!

But I can explain! I really can! It was my friend's sister's birthday the other day...and I was honored to be asked to make some cupcakes for her.

Chloe. She is just fantastic. I almost couldn't believe when I was told this was her 15th birthday...I am apparently very poor at knowing peoples' ages. But anywho, she is a doll and these are her cupcakes.

Now here's another thing you should probably know about me. I do not, in the least, enjoy working with fondant. I can do it, I don't mind the flavor, but that's about it. It's a pain and lets be honest, 9 out of 10 times people don't even eat it. But here's the other thing...I love sculpting with it. I can appreciate it when used to form toppers and such. And that is just what I did.

My other "secret" weapon is my food markers (these are real, I promise). What a fabulous idea they are! I mean, who doesn't like coloring? And who doesn't like food?

If you raised your hand for any of those questions...now would be the appropriate time to leave. Now.

Just jokes, I kid you. Please stay. But do re-consider your morals.

Okay now I'm a pretty humble gal, I'd say. But can we be honest and just gush about how cute these are?! I'm that kid who doubts her abilities of doing something she's never done...such as making a fondant volleyball. It's just a ball, right? But it's solid white...making it hard to create a realistic volleyball. But I'm pretty darn proud of how these guys turned out.

Yellow is Chloe's team color so, naturally, that's where the yellow came from. Five is her number...any guesses where the #5 came from?!

Ah, you guys are so smart!

And to top this post off, here's a picture of the beautiful birthday girl with her cupcakes!

Haha, this is what winners look like.

Happy Birthday, Chloe!

Take care,

Because Who Really Likes Football?

Dear my beautiful blog readers,

Throughout my blogging life I've let you in on a few of my favourite tips and tricks, along with tid-bits of random information about myself. Well today let us continue this.. tradition, shall we call it?

I hate football.

Like actually, I don't hate a lot of things. I'm pretty tolerant of things I don't approve of or enjoy. And sports are not my strong point, I do not understand the enjoyment of watching them and I am lacking 100% of the skills to play any of them. But football...football falls into it's own category. I just don't get it! I don't enjoy basketball, but I can grasp the game. I don't find soccer interesting, but I can follow the plays. But football? It just doesn't make any sense to me at all.

So why, you ask, do I watch football? Ha, well once a year I do like to take the opportunity to socialise in the way of watching the Super Bowl. That's football right? ...or is it the Stanley Cup? Grey Cup? Who really cares knows?! But anyways, I was invited to a Super Bowl watching...event...party....get together (Please forgive my lack of vocabulary today). So being the social butterfly (or not) that I am, I accepted the invite as a chance to make cupcakes!

Yes, despite what you may think, I DO go some places without bringing baking!

Now I don't want to toot my own horn, so to say, but these were a hit. Chocolate covered strawberries are immensely popular, who knew? But now I do... and will be incorporating them into more baking because of it!

I don't have much to say tonight, but I hope you'll pop by again. I have a few things coming up in the next few days that I am incredibly excited about, and I cannot wait to let you in on them.

Now I'm hungry for chocolate, thanks guys.

Wait? You're saying that's my own fault?

You're probably right!

Have a gooder,
Sydney
