Icing + Cookie Dough = Amazing!

Hello again!
I'm starting to figure out this blog site,  but not completely. I'm currently attempting to make my page more to my liking with my own images, but that's not going too well! Hopefully I'll get it soon.
After a bit of stress over this design attempt, I settled into the kitchen for an evening of cupcake making, chai tea drinking, and French music listening (my 3 favorite things in life right now).

If you haven't, I would suggest checking out this blog. It is totally amazing! Her work is unbelievable! And the recipes she has are to die for!
Recently I stumbled across her recipe for Cookie dough Buttercream!!! Being an avid cookie dough lover, I had to try it! And it did not disappoint!
I paired this buttercream with a basic brown sugar cupcake, but it would be delicious with any cake recipe.

Cookie Dough Buttercream:
  • 1 1/2 cups  butter
  • 1/2 cup vegetable shortening
  • 8 cups icing sugar (1 kg)
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • mini chocolate chips
  1.  Blend butter and shortening together. Add icing sugar and milk until fully incorporated. (If you stop here, you can use this recipe as a simple buttercream icing)
  2.  Mix flour and brown sugar in a separate bowl. Add flour/sugar mix to vanilla buttercream base.
  3. Add in the vanilla and salt. Blend until smooth.
And there you have it! An amazing tasting and super simple buttercream for any occasion! It is a bit sweet, but that's part of why I like it :) So feel free to experiment around with the sugar amounts to suit your taste buds!
Happy Wednesday,
Sydney

Hello Blogging World

Well, here goes: my first blog. I guess I'll start off by telling you a bit about myself.
I'm 16 years old, I have one older sister. I was born in Saskatchewan, after living in 8 different places, I now live in Morden, Manitoba and I love it here!
I LOVE baking. It's my passion in life. I don't bake for the money or to try to impress people. I bake because I love seeing how something I've created can put a huge smile on someone elses face. It makes me truly proud to have been blessed with the gift of baking and decorating sweets.
I'm far from a professional baker so don't be expecting outstanding work from me. I'm still learning tips and tricks to make perfect cakes, cupcakes, and cookies. In fact, I've only been big into this whole baking thing for about a year so any advice you have is gladly accepted.
I will try to figure out the how-to's of blogging as quick as I can, but for now it might be a bit rough here.
I plan to build this into a baking blog (as if you couldn't tell by what I've said about baking) with recipes, pictures, and links to some of my favorite work. But until I figure this out it might just be some random thoughts from yours truly :)
Okay, well that's about it for blog #1...
Good night, World,
Sydney
